Lumio
A voice language tutor for children. The child talks out loud with Lumio, in the language they are learning; parents see every transcript and set the limits.
01 What it is
Lumio is an Android app built by APIgoat. A child has real spoken conversations with an AI tutor that listens, corrects gently and steers toward the topics the child likes — learning by talking, not typing. Learning languages today: French, English, German and Spanish.
02 What it does
- Live voice conversations at the child's pace, with short grammar exercises slipped in, based on what the child just said.
- Lumis: every finished session earns a small collectible character, generated for that child.
- A kingdom to explore with the points earned by practising — learning feeds the game, never the other way round.
- For parents: full transcripts of every conversation, a view of what Lumio remembers about the child (and a button to erase it), minute limits per session and per day, progress statistics.
- No advertising, no social content, no strangers.
03 How it is built
The back office, parent administration and progress data are generated by GoatCheese, APIgoat's build engine; the real-time voice sessions are custom code beside it. iPhone and iPad versions are planned.
