§ 00 / products / smarties

Smarties. An AI agent orchestrator that asks before it acts.

One gateway in front of every AI agent in the business. Incoming emails, documents and forms are sorted and handed to the right agent; each agent works within the permissions it was given; sensitive actions wait for a one-click approval; everything is logged and can be undone where the tool allows it. Recurring tasks — supplier payments, source deductions, missing receipts, month-end — run on a schedule, propose exactly what they will do with evidence, and execute only once approved. AI runs locally in Quebec by default. Built for the SMEs of Quebec and the firms that serve them.

§ 01 / three moments

Before, during and after every task.

An agent that can read your mail and move your money needs something standing in front of it. Smarties is that something: it decides what reaches an agent, what the agent may do, and what it has to show for it afterwards.

01/before

Before — triage and routing

Every incoming email, document and form is classified, prioritised and handed to the right agent. Rules go first and cost nothing; the AI engine only sees what the rules could not settle. Duplicates are dropped before anyone, human or agent, spends time on them.

  • rules first
  • AI for the rest
02/during

During — permissions and approvals

Each agent holds a read, draft or act scope, and the credentials stay in Smarties, never in the agent. Actions you mark as sensitive — sending to a client, paying, deleting — stop and wait for a one-click approval. Every read, action and refusal is written to an audit trail with its context.

  • read · draft · act
  • human in the loop
03/after

After — reports and rollback

A summary of what each agent did, and an undo where the tool allows it. Approvals and corrections feed back into triage and into the agents, so the same mistake is not made twice. The log is exportable: what happened is never a matter of memory.

  • undo
  • learns from corrections
§ 02 / recurring tasks

The 14th, the 30th, month-end. Every time.

Task templates set up per client — the chores that come back every month in an accounting firm or a small business. Each run is traceable end to end: inputs, proposal, approvals, actions, validation, outputs, log.

01/gather

Gather

On its schedule, the run collects its inputs — mailbox, drive, accounting, bank statements — and snapshots them, so the proposal can be checked against exactly what it saw.

02/propose

Propose

It lays out exactly what it will do, line by line, with the evidence beside each line. Values are marked as read, rule-derived, AI-suggested or manual; an unconfirmed suggestion blocks the approval.

03/approve

Approve

The approval is bound to the exact proposal shown — change a line and it is a new approval. Optionally the client approves too, from an email draft. Soft and hard deadlines with reminders keep the queue honest.

04/execute

Execute and deliver

Actions are idempotent and never blindly retried; outside state is re-read before anything is written. Files and reports are delivered, the run is validated, and rollback is available on demand — approved like a proposal.

§ 03 / the rails

The agent proposes. You decide. It remembers.

An AI agent is only as safe as the thing that can say no to it. These rails apply to every agent and every task, whichever engine is behind it.

permissions
Per-agent read / draft / act scopes. An agent that may draft a reply cannot send it; one that may read the ledger cannot write to it. Credentials live in Smarties and are never handed to the agent.
approvals
Any action you choose — sending to a client, paying, deleting — waits for a one-click approval. The approval is bound to the exact proposal that was shown; nothing is approved by implication.
accuracy
Every value carries its origin: read (deterministic), rule, suggested (AI, flagged) or manual. An unconfirmed suggestion blocks the approval. A confirmation can be promoted to a rule, so the AI is asked less next time.
money
A bank transfer is a manual step with proof, done before the ledger is written in QuickBooks — never the other way round. Actions are idempotent, there is no blind retry, and outside state is re-read before executing. Rollback is proposed and approved like any other action.
audit trail
Every read, action and refusal is logged with its context and exportable. Incident log, consent records, limited retention and data export cover what Quebec's Law 25 asks of a business that processes personal information.
local AI
The AI engine runs locally, in Quebec, by default: your mail and documents do not leave the province. Cloud engines can be switched on per agent, with consent, when a task needs more than the local model gives.
§ 04 / in the box

Plugged into the tools a Quebec SME already uses.

01

Mail and files

Gmail, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and IMAP mailboxes; Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and the app's own storage; email drafts the agent prepares and you send.

02

Accounting

QuickBooks first — reads and bill payments. Other connectors from the same setup, quoted on the complexity of the data.

03

Portals

AccèsD, Revenu Québec, CRA and CCQ steps are guided manual actions with proof: the agent prepares, a person clicks, the evidence is filed.

04

Readers

Spreadsheets, PDF with OCR, Word tables, OFX bank files, CSV and zip archives — whatever arrives in the inbox becomes data the rules can work on.

05

To-do queue

One queue of what is waiting on a person: approvals, manual portal steps, missing documents. Soft and hard deadlines, reminders, and a clear owner per item.

06

Apps

Web, iOS and Android. Approve a payment run from the phone, read the proposal with its evidence, and see the log on the same screen.

07

Hosting in Quebec

Hosting, encrypted storage and daily off-site backups in Quebec, monitoring and alerts, security updates and SSL — included in every plan.

08

Guided setup

Every account starts with our team: configuration, launch support, import of the email history, and initial training on your data with rules tuned to your profession.

§ 05 / plans

Unlimited agents. Priced on what the AI actually does.

Monthly account plans in Canadian dollars, hosting in Quebec included. Plans differ only by AI actions per month and encrypted storage. An AI action is a task an agent hands to the engine — sorting an email, summarising a document, drafting a reply. Rules and duplicates are free.

01/light

Light — $199 / month

Up to 2,000 AI actions a month and 1 GB of encrypted storage. A solo professional or a small team.

  • 2,000 actions
  • 1 GB
02/standard

Standard — $279 / month

Up to 6,000 AI actions a month and 5 GB of encrypted storage. An SME with several mailboxes and busy agents.

  • 6,000 actions
  • 5 GB
03/heavy

Heavy — $439 / month

Up to 20,000 AI actions a month and 20 GB of encrypted storage. A support desk or high volumes.

  • 20,000 actions
  • 20 GB

Setup, always with our team, from $2,500 one time. No overage billing and no cut-off: going over the limit makes the next plan up mandatory at the next billing cycle. Cloud AI engines are opt-in (Economy included, Smart from +$10 a month). Connectors from $1,000 setup + $10 a month. Taxes extra.

§ 06 / next step

See it on its own site, or book the setup.

The product site has the full feature list, the recurring-task catalogue and the pricing page in French and English. Every account starts with a guided setup — tell us about the firm and the tasks that come back every month.

A product of APIgoat. Hosted and supported from Quebec; local AI by default, cloud engines only with consent.
